Storm Makes Epic MCU Debut in ‘What If…?’ as She Joins Forces

Alison Sealy-Smith Returns to Voice Storm in Marvel’s Animated Series Finale

Marvel fans, brace yourselves! A new goddess of thunder is about to shake up the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In a thrilling sneak peek, Storm from the X-Men franchise makes her long-awaited MCU debut in the latest episode of What If…?, airing this Saturday. Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look, revealing the iconic hero wielding Mjolnir, as teased in the season 3 trailer.

Alison Sealy-Smith Reprises Iconic Role as Storm

Fans of X-Men: The Animated Series and Disney+’s X-Men ’97 will be delighted to know that Alison Sealy-Smith returns to voice Ororo Munroe, a.k.a. Storm. Sealy-Smith has been the definitive voice of Storm in multiple animated series, including Spider-Man: The Animated Series. Her return solidifies Storm’s legendary status as she steps into the MCU spotlight.

A Team-Up for the Ages

In this exclusive sneak peek, Storm teams up with Captain Carter (voiced by Hayley Atwell) alongside Kahhori (Devery Jacobs) and Byrdie (Natasha Lyonne). Kahhori, a powerful Mohawk woman introduced in the previous season, and Byrdie, a fresh face in the Marvel animated universe, bring new energy to the ensemble. While Byrdie and Kahhori engage in a hilarious foosball match with an Avengers twist, Storm and Captain Carter discuss an ominous threat that could unravel reality itself.

The Stakes Couldn’t Be Higher

The clip hints at a cosmic-level crisis that could spell disaster for the multiverse. “We are looking at broken pieces of the fifth dimension itself,” Captain Carter warns. Storm quickly adds, “The last time something like this rained down on the multiverse, Infinity Ultron nearly destroyed all of existence.”

With Uatu the Watcher (voiced by Jeffrey Wright) mysteriously disappearing in Saturday’s episode titled “What If… the Watcher Disappeared?”, the fate of the multiverse hangs in the balance. The Watcher’s absence comes after his interference in saving Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) from her deadly fate, attracting the attention of other Watchers. Now, it’s up to Storm, Captain Carter, and the team to rescue Uatu and protect the multiverse from total collapse.

A Bittersweet Finale for What If…?

Marvel TV head Brad Winder Baum has teased that this final season will conclude on a “bittersweet” and “melancholy” note. “For now, it is a beautiful way to end this era and culminate the story of the Watcher,” Winder Baum shared. The emotional weight of the finale promises to leave fans both satisfied and longing for more.

When to Watch

Marvel’s What If…? continues to release new episodes daily on Disney+, leading up to the grand series finale on December 29. Don’t miss the chance to witness Storm’s electrifying entrance into the MCU and the epic conclusion to one of Marvel’s most imaginative animated series.
