Justin Baldoni’s Women’s Solidarity Award Revoked Following Allegations by Blake Lively

In a surprising turn of events, actor Justin Baldoni’s recently awarded women’s solidarity honor has been rescinded following allegations of misconduct by his “It Ends With Us” co-star, Blake Lively.

The award, presented by the global non-profit Vital Voices, recognized Baldoni for his advocacy on behalf of women and girls. However, the organization announced on Monday that the accolade was withdrawn after Lively filed a legal complaint accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and orchestrating efforts to tarnish her reputation.

Allegations and Legal Proceedings

Blake Lively, known for her role in “Gossip Girl,” filed the complaint less than two weeks after the award ceremony in New York. According to Lively, Baldoni engaged in “abhorrent conduct” that contradicted the core values of Vital Voices. The complaint also implicated Baldoni’s production studio and a crisis management team in an alleged smear campaign against her.

In response, Baldoni’s legal team vehemently denied the accusations, labeling them as “categorically false.” They asserted that a crisis manager was hired only after Lively purportedly threatened to disrupt the film’s production unless specific demands were fulfilled.

The Award and Its Significance

Baldoni received the Voices of Solidarity Award on December 9, during a ceremony hosted in New York. Comedian Hasan Minhaj presented the honor, which aims to recognize men demonstrating extraordinary compassion and commitment to women’s causes. In an Instagram post following the event, Baldoni expressed his gratitude, highlighting the importance of teaching young boys empathy and vulnerability.

“I am deeply honored and humbled by this recognition. We must continue to instill in our boys that vulnerability is strength and sensitivity is a superpower,” Baldoni wrote.

Blake Lively’s Claims

According to Lively’s legal filing with the California Civil Rights Department, the dispute originated from a meeting addressing alleged instances of sexual harassment by Baldoni and a producer. During the meeting, Lively reportedly presented 30 demands to ensure a professional working environment. Among these demands were restrictions on including intimate scenes not previously approved by her and prohibiting references to Baldoni’s past pornography addiction.

Lively also accused Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios of launching a comprehensive effort to damage her reputation through a “multi-tiered plan” involving digital manipulation and social media attacks.

Baldoni’s Defense

Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s attorney, responded by dismissing Lively’s claims as baseless. Freedman asserted that Lively issued threats to abandon the set and withhold film promotion unless her conditions were met. He emphasized that her actions jeopardized the movie’s success and accused her of attempting to control the narrative through salacious allegations.

The Future of “It Ends With Us”

The controversy has cast uncertainty over the release and promotion of “It Ends With Us.” As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how the allegations and Baldoni’s defense will impact the film’s reception and the careers of both actors involved.

Vital Voices reiterated its dedication to upholding values of integrity and respect, underscoring the importance of aligning with individuals who reflect these principles. The organization stated it had formally notified Baldoni of the award revocation.
