Tyler, The Creator and Kendrick Lamar have been keeping hip hop alive and fresh as 2024 winds down. With Kendrick’s explosive GNX and Tyler’s Chromakopia, fans have had plenty to celebrate. Adding to the excitement, Tyler just dropped a new freestyle, “That Guy,” over Kendrick’s “Hey Now” from GNX.
In the freestyle, Tyler hints at a possible deluxe version of Chromakopia. “300k in four days Chromakopia/ 12 days gold I ain’t even drop deluxe one,” he raps, reflecting on the album’s rapid success. But the celebration doesn’t stop there. Tyler is also honoring the 15th anniversary of his debut studio album, Bastard.
Taking to social media, Tyler expressed gratitude for the journey he’s been on. “Thank you to everyone who listened to anything over the years,” he shared. “I was in such a different zone musically and as a person, but I was determined to be who I am today. Full of gratitude because it all came true. Earl and I got to do ASSMILK; I performed ODD TODDLERS on the Coachella main stage. How wild is that?! This album was made when I was 16 to 18. What a time. Thank you!”
For longtime fans, this nostalgic reflection brings back memories of Tyler’s raw early work that laid the foundation for his current success.
